Rear coolant leak/Valley Pan Gasket
I've developed a pretty gnarly leak on the rear passenger side of the engine in my 2003 LR Disco w/ 76k on the odometer. Due to several inches of snow on the ground i haven't been able to get underneath and see where it's coming from, but after researching the threads on here it sounds like it could either possibly be a head gasket or a valley pan gasket. It leaks about a 12oz's a day.
Typically what should i look at cost wise from normal service shop on a repair such as this.
And what are the chances it could be the head gasket? There is no coolant in the oil.

You need to have your truck checked with a coolant system preasure tester.
You can rent one from most of the larger autoparts stores, if you can not do it yourself this is the time to ask around for a good land rover mechanic in your area.
If it needs head gaskets at an independent shop $1500 +/- at a dealer $2500+/- do it yourself $500 +/-.
You should have it ASAP 12oz become a real big leak really soon, and with the cold weather the outside air keeps the engine tempertures artificaly low.
You did not say how long you have owner it and how long you plan on owning it?

i'm about a year in on a 3 year note....i love this car, my 4th Disco (First Disco II)
Ideally i'd like to keep her around.

space to work, a $100.00 tool set and a set of , will get you 90% of the way.
There are very few specalty tools that are needed and luckly most can be gotten cheaply at habor freight.
It will take you a day to take the heads off and prep the block,
then the heads need to go to the machine shop, $ 225.00 +/-
another day to put it back togther fill and bleed everything.

Kansas City area... there is a LR dealership/service department about 10 mins away there is also a local indie jag/LR/Benz/Audi shop about 5 mins away.

My head gasket was leaking in the same spot, but on the drivers side. No coolant in the oil, leak was completely external. There's not much gasket space between the water jacket and the rear of the block.
