Once the coolant is flushed should i ditch the Dexcool stuff and go with the Green coolant and also a good oil recommendation ? i've been using Mobil 1 5W-40 full synth.

FYI, 2003 Disco II w/ 76k on the odometer.

Yes you should get the dex out. As far as oil everybody has a preference and this does nit need to turn into a oil debate. I run rotella T 15w40 but that does not mean that you have to.

I run rotella/deli/delvac, whichever is cheaper. If I was going to run Mobil 1, it would be Mobil 1 turbo diesel oil.

confirmed head gasket leak, wouldn't hold 5lbs of pressure. Replacing head and all other associated gaskets, having the heads checked (machined if necessary), new thermostat, fresh non-dexcool coolant, oil change.

Anything else i should suggest while they're digging around in there?

Get them machined regardless, it's peace of mind.

Yes i say get them to a machine shop and have them done regardless of what they say. Have the water pump and fan clutch checked. And have them back flush the heater core to get the rest of the dex out of there to.
