Default Rear Hatch

Hey guys, was cleaning up my disco this morning and had the rear hatch open while I was cleaning...closed the door when I was done, and now it is stuck shut...i can lock and unlock it with the remote and button inside the car but it makes no difference, only thing i can think of is i might of switched the child lock on the door, but not sure why it wouldnt let me open it from the outside...anyone have this problem before? and how am i going to get it back open?!

Have you tried to open it from inside the truck?

blcp86, we need to clarify your problem. Are you saying the rear latch gets stuck, thus not allowing you to open/close the rear cargo?

Here is the solution, pop the green LR oval above the plate and lube the mechanism and spring. Use silicon spray, as D40 would add to the rust. Really work the latch handle and make sure it flexes with ease.

Also clean the tracks below the door and lube it really well too.

Let us know if the lube solution works and if it doesn't we can tell you the fix.

no go with the lube solution...ok i can see where the latch attaches to the door, if that makes any sense...it almost feels like it isnt closed all the way, but i cant push it closed any further...any other ideas?

Mine did the same thing. Noticing that the handle/latch didn't seem to be in the fully closed position after shutting the door, I wedged my fingers between the handle/latch and the black licence plate frame and pushed the latch really hard back to the closed position. This got the lock to open/close but the problem continued each time I pulled that handle/latch back. So then I did some rapid open and closing motions with the handle/latch in a effort to work it into some freedom of motion. If you can't do this with your fingers (kind of hurts), maybe gently use a screw driver wrapped in a shop towel to do the same. Then follow the lubing instructions above. I haven't had a problem since. Hope it works for you.

If anyone has any other ideas, it would be great because I still cannot get the damn thing to open...I'm not sure what else to try...
