Default Rear Hubs

Anyone have experience with the rear hubs?

I looked through the rave, the process seems pretty easy. is it really?

There are no "c" clips or anything in the pumpkin that have to be unhooked?

Anyone have a good source of parts?

Price?

I hope you have some good air tools available. Removing the stake nut and torquing can be quite a chore to 360lbs. So you will need a torque wrench that will measure to 400lbs. Also a good gear puller or press is needed.

I replaced my right rear hub about a year ago.

I do not use impact for them. that is for Ralph and sissies
pop center cap from road wheel. use 1 1/4" (fits best) socket and breaker bar to break loose the stake nut (you can use a cheater bar, if you are a women). the rest is a cinch.

there is also a dimpled flare that recesses into the spline on those nuts. I use a little nail set to pop it up.

32mm works just fine Dusty! Use no more than an 8" breaker bar to ensure manliness.

until Ralph uses a 32 with an impact and smooths the nut, then 1 1/4 fits best

So I guess all the guys in the shop at Rovers North and Lucky 8 are sissies? Good to know I'm in good company. I'm pushing 50 and have learned that air is a good thing and I will use it any chance I get.

Not totally a cinch. You need to make sure you get the correct product to seal the hub to the axle splines. I posted about it: https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...splines-63707/. When you put it all back together, you can use your breaker bar and your body as a torque wrench. 360 ft.-lbs. is 360 pounds 1 ft. from the nut so just figure out where you need stand on the bar based on how much you weigh.
