Rear ladder....

Default Rear ladder....

Did some disco 1's not come with them or do people just take em off? Do they come off and how?

The ladders are an optional accessory that mount to the top of the cargo door and under the license plate (for the D2 at least) with 4 torx bolts. The genuine ladder will fit both D1 and D2 models.

Atlantic British says you can attach one with sheetmetal screws (if your truck didn't come with it from the factory) because most of the weight is on the top of the rear door. i have mine attached this way and it hangs on just fine

Most did not come with them to begin with. You would be able to tell if one was removed from your truck because there would be holes drilled on the back door. You can purchase them from Atlantic British if you are looking to get one.

One of the PO's got rid of my (would be) ladder, but the torx bits are still in the door.
