Default Rear tire mount

Ok so new tires are too tall for the spare tire mount. Now I have read you can flip it over to get you the night but it looks like it will interfere with the rear wiper arm ??
anyone have done this ??
or do I just buy the adapter from lucky 8 and be done with it

Yes, There is conflict. Just take the wiper arm off and reposition it a little higher.

I removed my carrier, drilled a new set of mount holes as far below the original holes as I could, filed the mount assembly to not interfere with the wiper arm, and reinstalled it using the new holes. My 32" spare just fits without touching the bumper.

I moved my tire up on the mount as seen below several years ago with zero issues. Tire is 33”.

Ok flipped it and moved the wiper arm. There is less than a half inch under the tire to the bumper.

Guys,

I have to change out my spare tire mount. What is the tool (square head) that you need to remove the speaker housing on the inside door panel to get to the tire mount bolts?

Yes, you are correct. Mine looked so bad I thought that they had some unique head on them.

BTW, everything came apart rather nicely and now I'm ready for a new tire carrier. Boy is the old one spent!
