Exclamation Rear wheel hub help please!

Ok, so I have a leaking hub or o-ring and I am trying to replace the oring first to see if this is the couplrit...I hope it is! I have the brake assy out of the way and all 4 bolts removed from the hub...i figured if i just put my slide hammer on the hub and gave it a few wacks it would come off. Not so! it has moved maybe 1/16 off of the mounting surface. Should I be using a puller (like posi-lock or something) to hold the axle in place while removing the hub. And yes I have removed the axle nut. Any help is appreciated!! ~Luke

Go down load a free Rave CD, link found in my signature, and follow the directions.

Thanks-

Disco Mike, I have a Rave and I have done everything in the "Rear Axle-> Repairs-> Differential-assymbley" section except steps 3,4, and 5 because all i want to do is remove the hub to get the o-ring changed...is it necessary to remove the prop shaft and pinion flange? Shouldn't the hub come right off after the 4 mounting bolts are removed? Mine seems to be really "tight" and I just wanted to make sure I am not missing something or if I should just put some more back into it...again I am trying to use my slide hammer at this point attached to the studs in the hub.

Get a big 3 leg puller from harbor freight the hub is more or less pressed into the axle case.

Got it, the axle came out with the hub which seems to be fine. i just needed to get to the o-ring. Replaced o ring and still have some clean up work to do as well as replace the pads, everything was wet. I hope this works! Anyone know where to fins the Lucas Hub Oil that was mentioned? I cannot recall seeing it in a parts house

Thanks!

lucas sucks ***** I would never add that stuff to something I want to keep, you can try a 1/3 bottle of white shepherds added to a thicker gear oil like rotella 85w-140. It is fine the axe came out.
