I have a 2003 discovery and the rear window wiper does not clean the entire window in which the wiper can reach. The top half of the wiper does not clear anthing on the window. Is there an easy fix for this?

Get a new wiper. I had the same issue, and I thought that maybe the wiper arm was bent or something, but after I replaced the wiper, it works great. The old one has gotten too stiff and would not follow the shape of the glass.

 

i just replaced all the wipers within the past month, thats what i though it was also......

 

Well, where the old one cleaning well? I guess not......
Then check if the arm is bent. Normally happens when cleaning the window and pulling the wiper arm against the spare tire. You should be able to see what prevents the new blade from bending down to touch the glass.

 

So, did you do inserts or full Rover wiper replacements?
If you still need more down force for your wipers consider replacing the arm, the spring pressure has failed.

 

the spring comes off. you could just replace that!

 

i checked the arm and it does not look bent, how would i replace the spring and where can i find one to replace it with.

The part that is not cleaning is the top of the blade there the last bend in the arm occures. I hope that makes sence.

 

I still believe the issue is with the wiper itself and not the arm. A wiper needs very little pressure to bend and follow the light curve of the window. How much pressure do you have to apply to the arm to force the wiper to make contact with the glass? if it is very little, then maybe it is the spring, but I doubt it.

 

I have this same issue with th 2003 and 2000 Discovery, both rear wipers have been replaced twice already. I believe the wiper arm is plastic, can the tension be adjusted? Is there a good aftermarket alternative. Removing the spare to work on rear wiper is PITA.

 

Does any one have any ideas as to a fix? The only part of the rear window that doesnt get cleared it about 3 inches on the top of therear window that the wiper does reach. any input about how to fix/ replace the spring or if i should try a new wiper would be very helpful.
