Recent problems with Cam Sensors?

Hello all! I find myself back in the garage with the warm red cheeks[:@]again.
96 Disco 4.0 GEMS
I just put in a new fuel pump (needed anyway). Fixed a Crank position sensor plug chaffing issue. Installed a new crank position sensor and [&o]still no ignition.
Truck turns over great (new battery etc..) and hits a little on every 3-4th revolution. Fuel PSI great thanks to new pump and ignition is fine too (plugs have spark and are new). In fact, lots of new in the last few months and it is bothersome. Granted the truck not been in this good shape in about 5-6 years, I still like to drive it every once in a while. The last few hundred miles since all the new parts/TLC have cleared the laundry list of codes.
The only thing I can think of is possibly a Cam Position sensor as I did have the front cover off a couple months ago leading to accelerated death.
Anysuggestions without running testbook?
Has anyone else had recent problems with these sensors? (GM and Ford are generating problems around the same model years)
Thanks, going to wash grease mark off my chin now..
