Default Recommendation 2" lift Medium vs Heavy

I'm researching for a friend about to put a 2" Terrafirma lift on their D2.

Looking at Pro Sport Medium Duty vs Pro Sport Heavy Duty.

The D2 will be for a teenage with limited about of time on trails. Really looking for best driving on pavement.

My D2 came with a 2" lift with blue covers on the shocks but Terrafirma has a Light, Medium and Heavy all with blue covers so I'm not sure which I have.

The two versions are the same price from Island 4x4 so that is not an issue.

Any advice is appreciated.

Can't make an opinion without more info. Is the truck loaded down with steel bumpers and roof rack... Rock sliders, skid plates, etc?

No roof rack
No steel bumpers
No skid plates
No protection.

In the future, maybe a roof rack but beyond that will stay stock

MD v HD is based on the load you will be carrying, not a measure of how rugged they will be off road. Many people confuse that and get HD when they don't really haul anything heavy. HD will be very very stiff on an unladen truck. MD is noticeably stiffer than stock.

I had the heavy duty springs. They were nice the ride was good.
I would think the shocks would last longer with the HD springs with less bounce

The amount of bounce and travel with the HD will depend on if you're carrying a ton of stuff. Had an f250 years ago... stiff springs in rear... it rode a ton better when I'd stick 300 pounds in the bed... So much so that i kept it there. I'd want the softest springs I could get that would still carry the loads I carried, assuming it has decent anti-sway bars. I wouldn't compromise ride so that shocks might last longer lol

This is coming from someone that has had 2” and 3” coils. Go 3” medium. It gives you many options down the road as far as clearance for bumpers and larger tires. I know, I know. You said you might only add a roof rack but if you are like the rest of us it never stops with the first accessory.

I second Frank's advice. I went with 3" after going through the same dilemma. I ended up going with the 3" terrafirma HD shocks and the 4 stage adjustable shocks. So glad I went that route. I don't have any issues with ride. It's a little stiff, but I don't mind. When I load it down it rides great.

HD springs n shocks are a HARD ride...just downgraded my shocks to +3" x4 way TF adjustables, with the original HD springs....love it on setting '1' (softest) for street...and I have all the steel 'add on's' possible....

LK8 has them in stock.....

Where do you get 3” springs? Terrafirma only lists 2” lifts and OME only 1.5”.

I have always assumed a 3” lift is only possible when you put Heavy rate springs on a not heavily loaded truck?

Or maybe add spring spacers?

i have MD Terrafirma springs and was thinking of getting HD versions to get some more height.

I find the rear MD springs too soft when both rear wheels hit a bump at the same time. The rear dips too much. I don’t have sliders and still have the plastic rear bumper.
