Default Recommended oil additives?

Hey guys so now that I'm finally on the road again I wanted to see if there were any additives that could help extend the life of my engine. Any good zinc products you guys recommend? Possibly one's that won't hurt the cats?

I've been running rotella 15w-40 for probably the last 6 oil changes. But I've been told recently that rotella isn't as high in zinc and detergents anymore since they are becoming more of an everyday consumer oil. Which is why I switched to mobile one delvac. Though I can't really confirm this, just what my engineer friend has told me who works for freight liner so I know he is familiar with deisel oils.

Oh and I had to completely drain my freon from the AC when I replaced the heater core. What do i need to do to refill it? Can I just get the R-134 stuff in a can from autozone and be on my way? I'm sweating bullets driving around town.

Allow me to answer. No you cant. The system has been open and exposed to air. You need ti replaced the receiver dryer amd have the system vacuumed down to. Then and only then should freon be added.

Don't use oil additives. Again, this is simply a way to make a person or company rich. Sucker's game. Just like exotic spark plugs. and the K&N air filter crap. And Seafoam. The only thing I have witnessed help an engine was Amsoil Power foam. That stuff really works. change the oil on time. That is all you need to do.

Seafoam works pretty well, I've seen it myself. I agree with the Amsoil stuff though, I use that and the amsoil flush. Honestly just use great oil, I only use Amsoil and love it.

For the a/c issue, yes, it needs to be pumped down and recharged with oil and the proper amount of 134.
As for the oil, don't worry about the % of zinc, hardly any company offers it in their oil any more. Might consider using a can of MOA from BG with every oil change. Most better shops and dealers use a lot of this for a reason.

You can vacuum pump it out yourself.
You can get a vacuum pump that works on air pressure.
It has a venturi in it.
You have a compressor and connect it to the vacuum pump.
The venturi pulls a good 20 bar vacuum.

Then you put in the R134 and the oil. Get freon with oil already in it.

If you need to use a oil additive then you need to use a different oil.
