Default Recommended Soldering Kits for Amigo Repairs?

I may be crawling into the 3 Amigos boat and from what ive read on the Amigo repair threads, soldering is a necessary element in such DIY work. So what brands or kits do you guys recommend for doing under the bonnet jobs? I found a cordless butane powered soldering kit for $70 online, but again I've never used one before so I'm not sure what to look for or which will be the best bet. I don't feel like spending $150 for a kit I may only use twice in 5 years, but I want something reliable enough to last afew years and get the job done - non of that made in china BS preferably!

no need for butane unless your stuck on the road, you can buy a 60watt 120volt soldiering iron for 10-15 bucks. That is all your going to need to do the job, if you were going to build electronics for a living that would be different.

^^ notice he said IRON not GUN...they are different and imo guns are terrible. Go to the local hardware store, a soldering iron and some rosin core solder should be cheap and easy to find.
