Where can you get it? Probably your favorite Jeep off road store. It just looks like some brackets that have been bolted through the hood. I wonder what kind of clearance there is to the windshield when the hood is opened. Also, those are just Quick-Fists that are holding the axe on there.
If you had a Defender you could mount it to the finders. I seriously would not mount it to my hood.
That pic is of one mounted toa Jeep, Jeeps are shorter and have no cargo room.
You can get a spare tire mount and mount it to your spare. But mounted to the hood you would have to take it off everytime you check the oil because the hood would fold in half from all the weight on it. Not to mention your lost visability.
You can buy a Hi-Lift at TSC(tractor supply company), alot cheaper than a off road place.
www.atlanticbritish.com has lots of mounts and off road gadgets.

recomended alternate sites for mounting? if they require an additional piece of gear please include a link. ive also "acquired" a 5 gallon water jug and fuel jug that i am having the same storage problem with. i would like to mount them somewhere they wont bounce around and kill me at. keep in mind i also got a BIG igloo cooler in there too (i HATE warm beer...). maybe pics of some of your guys storage set-ups would be helpful.
thanks guys (and gals!)
with that said i hereby turn my storage problem over to the brain trust!

And then scroll down and you can find everything that you are looking for.
This is your only real option without pulling a trailer or storing it all inside the truck.
You could also put your chainsaw on the roof too.

Spare tire carrier. I feel like this aught to cost about 30 dollars though.

I wonder if you could mount jerry cans to a ladder? If the door could hold the extra weight, it would only be 100$ for the ladder, plus fabrication of the jerry can mounts.
Wonder how much the door could hold? 2 five gallon cans?

Adding Jerry cans to the ladder is asking for a lot of problems IMHO, number one being weight. A 5 gallon Jerry can full of gasoline weighs about 35 lbs., and closer to 50 lbs. if you're carrying water. That added weight puts excessive stress on the hinges when the door is opened, especially when the weight is so far from the hinges. I'm pretty sure the ladder is made out of aluminum, which wouldn't be my choice in material for mounting.
Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. Still, if you are willing to risk the door hinges, looks like it could work:

Personally, I'm anti roof rack for a few reasons:
• 1000k price tag
• The mileage hit due to drag and weight must be insane
• Inhibits the racking of surfboards
That's why I'm looking at the ladder/jerry can mount. They look freaking cool though.
