Red Rover problems
Hello, fellow disco fans...I am new to the forum and also to disco ownership. After many years of pining for a land rover, i.e. discovery, I am now the proud owner of a 98 LE (aka Red Rover) which has a few problems. The backlighting behind gearshift does not work, along with an assortment of non-working functions: top part of the power seats, both sides, (does not recline or incline) heated seats on either side, cruise control, clock, I think that's it- or at least most of it. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. As you may can tell by my login, I am a girly girl (yes, I will admit it) and do not know too much about fuse boxes, seat modules, etc., but am more than willing to learn. So, any advice, comiseration, would be so greatly appreciated. If anyone knows of a reputable repair shop in the vicinity of central Alabama, NOT a dealer, they rip you a new one with labor, please share the wealth of info.
THANKS A MILLION!

Allright... I will give it a try. Power seats is usually the switch and I only hope it is coincidence that it is the top for both that does not work. I had the same problem with one seat and changing the switch took care of the problem. As far as the seat heaters go, does the light come on when you push the switch? Cruise control is usually a vaccum leak issue. If the light comes on when you turn on the console switch then you need to check the cruise control system for cracked hoses and replace any and that usually takes care of that problem. Clock, does it not work at all or are some of the digits missing? I hope this helps.
RedRover,
I really like the name of your truck. I had not thought of it that way but I drive a RedRover too (2000 DII).
There is a repair shop in downtown Montgomery which works on Land Rovers. I cant recall the name of it, but if you really want/need to know just send me an email at mac@troy.edu and I will go down the street and look. It is only about four blocks from my office. If you are familiar with Montgomery it is on the main street through downtown Montgomery, the one that goes right by the stadium on your way toward Atlanta Highway. They specialize in repairing European vehicles. There are flags of several types of vehicles including Land Rover flying in their parking lot. While their labor rates are not cheap, they are cheaper than the dealership in Birmingham.

Hi, guys. My dog (literally, yes, my dog) ate my power cord for my laptop, so I haven't been on lately. Thank you both for the advice. Valkarye, I didn't think clearly and sent you an answer through a response email. Don't know if you got it, but anyway. Still loving the rover, cept for the many issues. I also found out the back right window does not go up if you press the switch on THAT door, yet goes up fine from master controls up front. GREAT! By the way, if anyone wants to buy a 00 Mercedes S500 let me know, as my old car has not sold yet
