Default Remap - reliability, top speed, 0-60?

I see TD5s are supposed to get to 180bhp quite easily, question is how reliable is this for the engine and turbo?
Automatic TD5 hits 60 in about 16 seconds. Would you say it's possible to ever get it to below 10 seconds, without massive upgrades?
Also, I'm usually cruising at about 100-110mph in my ford focus quite happily, while discovery barely ever gets to 100mph. Would remap affect top speed heavily, or?...

I'm no expert, but these trucks are geared for torque not speed. If you want to go 100-110mph you may want to look at upgrading to a 6 speed transmission somehow. I just don't think this one is made to do that.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like I want to make it cruise at 110mph constantly, it's just that I'd like to make it a bit more nippier at 85-95mph mark. And it's not gearbox that's at fault, actually given enough power, TD5 auto could hit 130mph, before reaching readline...

But why not just go with the v8 to begin with. IMO performance diesel builds seem sort of a waste to me. You don't buy a tractor to go racing. Now thats not saying slightly larger turbos aren't cool and fun to do. But the words d2 and 100mph don't ever seem to go together. I hold the same opinion with all trucks. Sure you could buy a diesel spend 10k in parts and get something that blows smoke, goes fast, and makes a good sound. But you could of saved a hell of a lot of money and gotten a faster truck with a gaser. The Td5 is a great engine and is mated very well for what the d2 was intended for.

As a long term TD5 driver at 90-95 mph it'll probably munch the autobox, transfer box and drink so much derv you'll be too skint to fill it up after a couple of weeks. I haven't a clue where you live but if it's in Europe 70-80 mph is great, better near 70 mph though. Yep. you can tune a TD5 to death but be sure it'll cost on it's lifespan, diesel and parts. If you want to seriously tune the TD5 you'll need the heavier flex plate and driveshafts day one. Personally, it was never designed as a race car but is a good reliable cheap 'plodder' but if you really need speed buy a Porsche or Ferrari, now they really fly .
