still, have not had anyone with any good ideas. even spoke with the dealer via phone and he told me he 'thinks' it needs to go to the dealer. fine, but the dealer is like a 3 hour drive. any other suggestions?????

I am thinking that if your battery went dead for long, the ECU has lost your remotes, similiar to a radio needing to be recoded after being unhooked from the battery.
I bet you will need to have the dealer reprogram both of your old remotes, but don't do it till you have resolved your trucks battery problem.

the remotes should work regardless of batt disconnect. The becm has a burned in memory of the plip. If something happened to the plips memory you will need the keys barcode or they are just trash no way to recover them. However in the ten years on working on them i have not seen this. More then likey there is a problem with the becm or the antenna the antenna for that truck is right rear window I believe there is a fuse for the amp for it but i need my RAVE disc to figure it out which is at work

A friend of mine had a similar problrm with his Range Rover P38. It turned out that a nearby weather station wind sensor was transmitting on the same freqency as his key fob, which was activating the sensor on his car ever 30 seconds and draining the battery. He also found it difficult to open the car outside his house due to the interference. It took him a while to find this problem and the dealer had alteady replaced around £2500 worth of parts under warranty (when nothing was actually wrong). I believe a gadget is now available from landrover to limit external interference.
