Default remote receiver?

So on my 2003 discovery, the battery went dead after being parked for a month or so. After recharging the battery, I couldn't get the keyless plip to lock or unlock the doors. I installed a new battery in the plip. No luck. I figured that maybe somehow the BCU lost the programming for the plip. When attempting to reprogram it (I know I cannot... I don't have the barcode), my scanner says that no plip was detected. So I figure the remote is bad.

Just today, I thought to try to program it on my 99. The 99 sees the remote just fine. Has anyone ever seen a bad remote receiver inside the vehicle? Or any other ideas of why the 03 won't see the remote anymore?

Rare.
My money is on your needing to have it reprogrammed.

I couldn't get the 03 to even try to reprogram. It said it didn't detect the remote.

The 99 saw it immediately.

So.... I hate threads that don't have follow ups. My remote started working today. I had just gotten my hawkeye back from having it updated, and I wanted to see what new features were added. After going through some of the menus I decided I was happy with the new features and headed inside. Out of habit, I pressed the lock button... and the door locked. I have no idea why it's working now.... maybe the BCU just needed a little reboot from the computer talking to it.
