Default Removing D2 Auto shift **** help!

As I understand it this **** SIMPLY pulls straight up, but I am not having much luck, so any secrets here would be appreciated. I have the transmission in "D" and I have tried pulling up and pulling up with the shifter lever button pressed on the ****, and no luck either way. Any experience getting these off easily would be appreciated.

This. I put it in N, straddle it, pull up HARD.

Try not to punch yourself in the face.

I took a break from pulling to post this thread, went back and pulled some more with lever in D and selector button pushed in, and it finally let lose after a few hard tugs with two hands, and I had my head out of the way, so no smack to the head
