Default Removing the A-Pillar Outer Cover

I want to wire my roof lights and it seems running the wiring down the outside of A-Pillar is what most people do, and seems to make sense with inside fuse box on that side. My question is the cover plastic looks a bit fragile, and I have been advised it can break easily. It looks like there are 3 or 4 plastic one-time use rivets inside the door opening. Am I correct that the best thing to do is drill out these rivets and have new replacements to use to put it back together? Also, know there are some clips under there as well, any pics of what that looks like would be great! Thanks.

The rivet centers push in, then you can pop them out. There are spring clips too that might need replaced depending on their condition.

I actually have one of mine off right now. If you'd like, I'll take a couple of pictures for you.
