Removing radiator; How do we un-couple the transmission cooler lines from the cooler

Default Removing radiator; How do we un-couple the transmission cooler lines from the cooler

The radiator is ready to come out of my 2003 D2.....EXCEPT......the oil cooler line on the drivers side is holding the cooler on to the radiator (there is an aluminum tab on the cooler that slides in to a provision in the plastic radiator tank. The tab and oil cooler line keep the cooler from being removed from the radiator). I Don't see any way to get the radiator out without releasing at least the driver's side Trans oil cooler line.

I've read the Rave,.............and like most..........am still unable to figure out what part of the coupling we "Push" and in what direction we push it to allow the coupling to separate.

Also,.....my truck has Supplemental Air injection,......does this in any way effect what radiator I need to order?

Gently push the line in towards the cooler, while pulling back on the collar around it. Pulling back lets the pressure off the 3 or 4 teeth type things that hold it on. When putting it back on, make sure you here a solid "click", and give it a little pull to make sure it attached right to avoid a mess in your engine compartment. Might not be a bad idea once it is off to slightly bend those teeth a touch for an even better grip.

When reattaching the line, make sure you really clean both the connector and the pipe so it won't blow off while driving.As far as buying a new radiator, buy one that can adapt to the SAI.

When I changed my Radiator there was no nead to remove the Transmission or the Oil Coolers. Is it different on the 03 & 04 models?

Situation Normal All * Up,......thanks for the tips. It did finally release. I pushed the cooler line end towards the cooler, and pushed the plastic round clip in the opposite direction,..............towards the cooler line,......then,....while holding pressure on the cllip,...I pulled the cooler line back,................and out it came. It took a few minute to figure that out.

I was "Pulling" instead of pushing the clip at first.

I'm in Round Rock so if you ever need a hand let me know. I have an Amigo and Autel if you ever need to check your ABS.

I've changed the radiator in facelifted (03-04) and pre-face lifted(99-02). I've never disconnected the transmission cooler lines. I feel like you can do the job in half the time if you aren't having to mess with the transmission cooler.
