Default repainting Exterior trim?

My exterior trim is faded and i wanted to paint it. I was curious to know how to remove them, how to prep, and what is the best spray paint to use?

I have a Disco II. Grey with flat black trim.

Shoe polish, black sho polish.
Leave it on the truck and rub the shoe polish all over it.

I know of the shoe polish method but I'd rather paint them. Any tips would be greatly apreciated. A guy told me some step in prepping them to be painted on how to not just grind the dirt down into the part when cleaning them but I was more worried with getting my fluids and filters changed at that point and didn't pay him much attention (he came over and was talking to me while I was in the process of changing the oil).

You'll have to clean the trim really good making sure it has no dirt at all then sand it to make the surface rough and then primer and paint. I would suggest Mother's Back to Black. It's a lot easier than painting trim that was never intended to be painted. The shoe polish actually works well according to the people who have done it.

AK they spray something on that exterior originally so it has some sort of paint or something to give it the black color. It is almost white underneath

All the faded wheel trim arches that I have seen are molded black plastic but it fades over time due to UV rays.
It is molded black but fades.
I dont own a DII but all the ones that I have looked at up close that were that way were faded and not peeled paint.

I recently got some forever black (I think its called) from atlantic british but have yet to try it. It was the most reccomended when I was looking for something other than shoe polish.

Take some 3M scuff pads and wipe your wheel wells down with alcohol. Tape everything off and use the Krylon Fusion flat or satin black paint. It has held up for 2 years on my Disco and 3 years on my expedition.
