I just sold a set of converters off an '00 Tahoe for $500, about to sell another set for $600. That's locally, thankfully, as I've found a couple good buyers.

I threw a listing up on Facebook Marketplace and told people I was looking for offers, that I wouldn't be selling them for a few days to see what they were worth. Be ready for a real flood of messages if you go that route, and a lot of low-ball offers.
Why are people so interested?
I thought it was a federal offense to sell a used cat but maybe that's just for businesses??
I don't understand this whole cat craze, the stealing etc

Perfectly legal to scrap catalytic converters as long as you are the legal owner of them, and not some guy in the Walmart parking lot with a sawzall. They're worth a lot to recycle because they have precious metals inside them such as platinum and palladium.

Thought I'd update.

The new y pipe from RockAuto came without the muffler flange - DOH - new one should be here tomorrow.

Here in SC, you have to obtain a permit from the Sheriff's office to sell certain metals, including the cats.
Got my permit, its free, and sold them to a local recycling center for $600. More than paid for the replacements so that's a plus.....
Truck should be ready to sell by this weekend.........
