Question Replaced wires and plugs

Replaced the wires and plugs and now vehicle is a no start. Disconnected the batterto do the work. Put the 8 wires on the 2 coil packs as shown in prior thread and appears that wires are on wrong. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. 2001 Disco II 4.0.

The coil packs are upside from the pic in Rave, probably because they expect you to unbolt the coil and flip it up on top of the engine when you install the wires. If you note the diagram, you will see that there are only 3 bolts holding each coil to the bracket. This should help make sure that you have the wires where they belong.

If yes, chances are that you are looking at that top diagram from the wrong perspective.

I'm assuming it cranks but does not fire?

so the coils if not removed should be top row right to left (pass to Drivers) 8/5/6/1 and the bottom should be 2/3/4/7 Correct??

As I recall, yes. I'm not in front of the truck to double check, but I recall doing the same thing you probably did what that diagram.

I believe I thought it was from my perspective standing in front of the truck, when it's actually from the perspective of sitting in the truck. I'm still not 100% sure without checking. But if you followed it and you have a crank no start situation, it's a pretty safe bet that you also took that diagram in the wrong direction as well.

OK so I changed the position of the wires and it started. Now I have a code P0203 cylinder #3 injector fault. Anyone got ideas of what this could be........vehicle runs rough and there ia a strong gas smell. Replies greatly appreciated.

Check your spark plug wire connections, #3 is not firing which is why you smell fuel and hear the ticking noise you mentioned in the other post.

OK so if the wires and plug are good how do I go about finding the bad injector associated with plug # 3 P0203.How big of a job is getting at the injectors on this.2001 4.0..Hell I can't even see them ................I suspect the top end need to come off. Should I expect to do Valve cover gaskets and plenum gaskets too?? I don't mind doing the work its a learing experience for me. I have torn down motors and cars before so I am somewhat mechanicaly inclined. Thanks for replies..

I doubt it's really a bad injector. It's likely a connector that is off/not seated.

You need to take the upper intake manifold (plenum) off for decent access to them.

Your valve covers do not need to come off.
