Default Replacement Stereo for stock Alpine Cassette/6CD changer?

I'm thinking about changing the stock receiver and wondering if anyone had any suggestions.
I have the 6 CD changer and was hoping to just get a MP3 input/AM-FM Receiver that would still work with my under-the-seat CD changer.

Thanks!

I don't think you will find any stereo decks that will work with your stock CD changer. Any single din head units will work in the Disco, then you just need the wiring harness adapter to plug it in. Pretty easy to replace, just pick one that has the features that you want and go for it. There are a couple threads on this topic, so do some searches and you will find the info.

I went with an Alpine head unit, and I like the sound and features. Replaced mine so I could listen to my iPod.

I have a similar but opposite question. I want to keep my head unit but replace the Alpine 6CD changer with one that will read mp3 discs. Is that possible?

Just keep your current set up and send you factory head unit out for an AUX port to be installed . Best option for keeping things original and utilizing current technology.

what you both are looking for is a Pie interface adaptor, if you do a search under audio (about 2 monthes ago) I wrote a post titled Seriously I found the answer to Sirius . i used it for satilite but you can use if for mp3 or cd player and it allows the used of the factory steering wheel controls

When I replaced my HU, I wired in a SWI-JACK: Pac-Audio.com Product Details | iPod Integration for your car and More by Pac-Audio - Connecting you to the future

It was easy enough to wire in and the directions for programming weren't too bad either. My steering wheel controls work just fine with my new HU.
