Default Replacing broken ACE line

One of the hydraulic lines coming from the ACE pump on my '01 Disco II SE7 has a nice split in it.
Almost of all of the fluid spewed into the engine compartment.

The dashboard ACE indicator is now amber (understandably) and on occasion will turn red due to low fluid.

How easy will it be to replace the line? Does anyone have the part number for it (it's the 'top' line coming from the ACE pump).

Do risk further damage to the ACE system if I continue using the vehicle with little/no fluid in the ACE reservoir?

Thanks!

Default RE: Replacing broken ACE line

I found the following recall info re: ACE system and lines.

Any chance of the dealer replacing the broken line due to the recall?

http://www.muddyoval.com/articles/discoveryrecalls.htm

R2000/011
Series II
ACE SYSTEM HIGH PRESSURE PIPES MAY LEAK FLUID
YA233202 TO YA258267
13 July 1999 to 13 December 1999
2289 vehicles
The ACE system high pressure pipes may, under certain conditions, fracture and leak fluid. In extreme circumstances should the vehicle continue to be driven and sufficient fluid expelled into the engine bay and an ignition source is present, the fluid could ignite.
Recall affected vehicles and replace ACE high pressure pipes.

If it is a recall then yes, they are required to fix the problem.
If it is a TSB then no, they are not required to fix it.
Would you drive with the engine three quarts low on oil? No? Then keep the ACE full or you will be buying a new pump.

It is a TSB.
Depending on how mechanical you are, the replacement is not that hard. The bleeding of the system can be a pain if you drive all the fluid out of the system. I would not drive it till you replace the line. Don't worry about a part number, just call Rover and buy it.

The ACE line that needs to be replaced had to be special ordered at the dealer ($368).

They want 4 hours = $640 to replace it. [sm=smiley35.gif]

Tell me again how easy it is to replace that line???

Call the guys at www.roverlandparts.com and see if they have a good used one. Stop driving it. The already hot fluid spraying on the engine WILL catch fire.

Looking for some help getting the pipe back into the block. is there a trick? the plastic piece looks flush with the block. when i try and isert the pipe back in it only goes about 1/2" in and stops.i dont want to force it in. should i remove the plastic peice and then insert? hose part of the pipe was leaking so I removed the whole line and had a shop replace the hose part. almost have job complete but cant get the end back in and set. take the broken hose/line to any hydraulic shop/heavy equipment they will make you a line the same day.
at a whole lot less than you are going to pay for a land rover specific hose/line.
That's what they do all day is make hydraulic hoses/lines.

I have 2000 Discovery with the ACE system and would like to know how would I disconnect this system. What do I do with the two lines coming out of the reservoir? If anyone could offer any information on what I need to do to bypass the ACE system it would be helpful...thanks
