Default Replacing Cargo Net Elastic (Shock) Cords

As with many DII's, my cargo net elastic is sagging and no longer stretchy. Since I had the headliner down anyway, I decided to take care of the problem with about $8 in new shock cord. Hopefully it's a permanent fix.

Here's the shock cord I bought: https://www.ebay.com/itm/124130260578?var=425025915798. (I used Light Gray)

10 feet is plenty (honestly 6 or 8 might work, don't quote me tho). In case the listing goes down, this is 1/8" Bungee Shock Cord

I just install a pair of backpack cord locks and then you can adjust em for whatever you stick up there.

I had some around I was gonna use on mine. A year ago when I took the headliner out... Moved and can't find it anywhere, I guess I'll order some more.

Now to see if I can find someone to take out the rear glass and reglue it so it stops leaving black streaks when it rains or I wash it.

Explain please? Pics? Are you saying you do this with the nets and the headliner in place in the truck?

You simply buy a pair of cord locks. Pull the original cord thru the cord lock and adjust as needed. On all the D1/D2's I've done that on it leaves you with maybe a 2-2.5inch little loop hanging out of the cord lock when fully tightened which doesn't look bad at all. The net will be nicely snug vs sagging. Then if you toss anything larger up there simply adjust the cord lock.

Also you need a cord lock from a backpack, some have smaller openings (like the .99 set from Wal-Mart for example). REI, LL Bean, Academy and any camping supply type store should carry the larger opening style of cord lock.

Ah. Got it. So no need to cut the cord. Great tip!

Yep absolutely no cord cutting. Just slip it on in the middle & adjust it to whatever tension you want & no more saggy nets!
