replacing O2 sensors - any gotcha's

Holy schitt!! Where was this done at? Did they change out all 4 O2 sensors?
I hope they also changed your oil in your engine, diffs, tranny, transfer box, wash and detailed your Disco and filled up your tank with petrol.
Bloody hell…

@nysfinest318 yea that is brutal they should always be done in pairs. As long as you take your time and can say nope I can not do this you lose little by trying. The trick is never ever force anything, worse case you put it back then take to a shop.

I wish Juke179r...that was literally just for O2 sensors. But, if I'm being totally honest I'm just happy that after almost 10 years o sitting in my garage without being driven or started, it's back running like a beast! People have been stopping me commenting on how good it looks and it hasn't even hit 100k yet. Now, my to-do list is trying to track down a left rear taillight and figuring what I'm gonna do to remedy this ancient radio situation, lol. Also, think I wanna add a ladder, headlight/taillight guards and running boards.

Rust was a problem for mine, but penetrating oil helped a lot. Beyond that, it was limited space to swing the wrench that was a pain. The offset O2 wrench AB sells along with a 3/8 breaker bar seemed to work the best. I did use a socket style O2 wrench (with the slit in the side), long extensions and a u-joint on the fronts to get at them from above in the engine bay, but that didn’t work all that well. Mine were seized pretty bad and most of those O2 sockets are cheap and open up rounding the corners. Mine did and I ended up cutting the body off the front driver’s side sensor then slipping a regular socket over it to break it loose. The pains of having a truck that’s lived most of its life in the “Rust belt’ of the US.

Definitely used anti-seize when I reinstalled all of mine.

not to hijack this thread but what O2 sensors seem to be working best these days for everyone? I'm due to replace all 4 and its between Bosch and NTK. Thoughts?

NTK #25623 UPSTREAM & #25624 DOWNSTREAM or Walker #350-34462 UP & #350-34188 DOWN

Curious why you don't recommend Bosch as they're rebranded/reboxed NTK. My Bosch O2s were NTK stamped even.

I had 2 new Bosch O2 sensors that were bad straight out the box so I went with NTK.
no issues sInce then.

Like many others on this forum including JUKE179r, I have had Bosch sensors that were bad out of the box. None of the Bosch O2s I've seen were marked NTK. I hope not to jinx my truck by saying this, but it's been a few years now since I've needed to replace an O2. If/when I next need to do it, I'm going with Walker.
