Default Replacing the plastic cover inside the door

Howdy folks,

Has anyone figured out an alternative to the plastic cover that sticks to the door frame? Given the age of our trucks, that plastic is getting old and the glue is pretty nasty. Perhaps it is possible to create an alternative that is easier to remove/replace... Has anyone done anything like that?

I think the glue is butale tape, and you can buy more plastic at a hardware store.
You can clean off the goo and go back with rtv silicone that easily peels off when dry.
It's the easiest way to keep drafts and moisture out.

Yes I have - get the carpet protector from Home Depot. It is on a roll, 24" wide, adhesive backed, quite thick and not brittle.

Home Depot / Lowe's has 6 Mil Clear or Black Plastic Sheet in many lengths.
OR use some cut in half Contractor Clean-up Trash Bags.
