I am in need of a radio because the volume button doesn't work to well.
I am going to buy a used on off ebay sometime soon and I thought I read somewhere that it needs to be activated.
Is it just a plug and play setup or will the one I get need to be activated? and if so, how does one activate it?
Thanks for the help.
I swapped mine for one from a parts Rover because my lcd was cracked and it worked without a hitch. No activation. No nothing. Turn key and listen to music.
Joe, I'm actually in Corpus Christ now.
How much are you wanting for the old one? Here is a pic of what mine looks like. it doesn't have the speaker icon button under the volume control.

Just as a note, I swapped out the OG unit for a Kenwood and used the same speakers. I have the low line system, S Model... My point being that the same speakers sounded 100% better with a different head unit. If you got a few extra bucks and you care about the sound quality rather than the look, go aftermarket.
I would like to go aftermarket, Ive looked around before, but never made the move. Hope to get a little amp and a sub in the back just to add a little bass.
Exactly what I did, put a 3 channel JL amp under the passenger seat where the factory CD player goes, that feeds the two front door speakers and a sub in a box in the back.
The original amp still feeds the back door speakers which sound inferior to the rest. If I had the time I could try to figure out how to use the head unit to power the back seat speakers instead of the factory amp. Another day maybe since I don't ride much back there.
