I have to replace my radiator. I bought a new one and awaiting installing it. While pulling the air box I snapped the existing brittle hose like I did a few years ago. I can get a replacement for 17 but can I just reroute a rubber hose straight out of the radiator, towards the ac pump, left along the Ac pump, along the block to meet the expansion tank. I did the same thing with the expansion to intake hose. I rerouted it directly to the block.
man I missing something or should I just by the same plastic hose and to it again.
You can. When I bought mine someone had just ran a rubber fuel line hose similar to how you mentioned. I eventually replaced it with the stock style because it looks better, but it worked and I keep it as a spare incase this one cracks.
I just ran some 5/16 hose in the same path as the OEM hard line. I secured it so it wasn't sagging across the front of the radiator. Zero issues after that.
I use a spark plug boot heat protector over the 5/16 hose coming from the intake/TBH back to the reservoir. Just keeps the one section near the exhaust manifold shielded from excess heat.
Good idea for the heat protectors @Best4x4 .
I bought a new 8 pack set of black spark plug boot heat protectors and I was going to bin my older tan boot protectors. I'll now save the old set to add to hoses and cable assemblies in the engine bay.

I prefer the factory routing, cleans up the engine. Make sure to use trans cooler line, not fuel line. The fuel line is not rated for the temperature.
Just to clarify so this post does not get confused with Best's (we can all agree heat protectors are good), fuel line is not rated for 200 degree temperatures and will get very soft at that temperature, potentially rupturing due to the pressure of the cooling system.
