Default reset button

A friend of mine told me of a emmisions reset button behind the dash that throws a check engine light at 50 or 60K.

Is this true?

03 that I bought at auction. HSE 50,000 miles. Paid $7,000

It is in very nice condition but has the normal BS engine light and the three amigos.

I also have a very nice Defender that I have owned for quite some time with all the goodies.

I need to run codes again tomorrow, but I got an evaporative emmisions control on the service engine soon. I figured that it was a dirty MAF, but that has been eliminated.

In the short time I have been on here, I can see that you are very knowledgable and I appreciate your help Mike.

You won't be able to get the ABS codes read except fom a mechanic with the proper scanner. One reason your SEL is on is because of the 1590 set by the ABS, for a roughr road/ABS issue that will go away when you get the ABS problem resolved.
An evap code won't be caused by a MAF. What are the exact fault codes you are showing?

I have a buddy that has high dollar needed equipment to read everything. I'll try to run those tomorrow before I head to Colorado. I'll post again on the subjuct as soon as I have all the codes.
He forgot one of his chips when we read them the other day, so I was able to only get the one code.

When I get back, I also have to pull the transfer/tranny on my Defender again. I'm guessing that I got the wrong pilot bearing on the clutch job I just did.
Thank you.

This is true on a DI, it is behind the passenger kick panel and resets the "Service Engine Soon" light and NOT the "Check Engine" light.
It comes on every 70,000 miles or so.

On DII's the "Service Engine Soon" and the "Check Engine" light are the same.
It will show you in the owners manual what all the warning lights are and where they are and what they mean.
On the DI the "Service Engine Soon" light is a emissions service reminder.

So you need to have your codes read and then correct the problem(s).
