Why would you wqant to reset it, what are the code numbers and have you made the necessary repairs?
By the way, no you can't reset the codes unless you have the proper scanner.

Do you mean the red Service Engine Soon light? If so, you can reset it.

You need a OBDII scanner to read and reset the light.
You can get one almost anywhere.

DI's have two lights, a amber "check engine" light and a red "service engine soon" light.
The red one can be reset by the owner.

On DII's there is only one light, "service engine soon" and cannot be reset without a scanner.

The code was P0455. I found it had a loose gas cap so I tighten it. The code hasn't gone away yet thought I might have to reset it. The truck has 59,270 miles thought it also might have been the 60000 mile service warning

A 455 code will not go away on its own, no code will except for a soft code like one thrown when doing an induction cleaning.
A scanner is the only way to clear it and a 455 is a gross evap leak normally not caused by a gas cap being loose.
You will need to have some track down your vapor leak.
