Default Revving up to change the front propshaft.

I finally got under the truck and see I need to do the propshaft. Now I just have to find one and get it here in Toronto.

Was going to go with lr2001silver's but there was a lot of negativity surrounding him on the board.

Anyone have any feelings about this one I've found on ebay?:

Thanks!

This the one I got and I have had no problems. It has held up well and seems like great quality.

That BPU one looks great. Shipping parts to Canada gets pretty expensive with brokerage fees and all. But it's worth it. I called a shop in Toronto ( Cardanic) I think, regarding rebuilding mine and they quoted $350.00 plus!!! Just nuts. Everything is too expensive here.

Thanks guys!

I'm embarrassed to admit; it never occurred to just ask my mechanic what he'd charge to replace the universal joints. Must go ask him.

Sent an email to Tom Woods to get a price.
BPU just wants too much for shipping. I just hate how many "free shipping in the US" places seem to want half the price of the part to ship to Canada (weren't we supposed to get "free trade" some time ago?).
I'm also looking for Shocks and Steering Damper, and so far it's looking like it would be cheaper to buy them and get them shipped from England than the good old US of A.
I don't get it. I assume it's 50% Canada being a tiny market and 50% UPS/Fedex and co being money grubbing bastards. I get why overnight shipping is expensive, but when I'm willing to wait? Particularly when I can get things shipped from China for $0.

Oh well, can't fight city hall…

Thanks Again!

I would say your best bet is to take it to a local shop to have it rebuilt. Those guys know what they're doing and know all the tricks.

I'm pretty handy with a wrench and it took me basically half a day of futzing to get the U-joints switched out. It was a damn Rubik's cube. I'm still not sure how I did it.

I've come up against a lot of Canadian rules meant to protect Canadian workers so I wouldn't be too quick to blame UPS or FedEX. I think you ought to develop a friendship with someone just across the border, have your parts shipped there, drive across, and install them.

Send Justin at ProShaft an email. He is a good guy and I have been happy with mine so far. Silver is not associated with the company, that's another story for another day..

+1 - I snagged a ProShaft off eBay for mine too. I knew I will most likely be doing some suspension changes in the near future so spending the $ on a Tom Woods and needing another length within a few months seemed stupid.

Went right in, no complaints at all.
