It looks like you are just pinning the uprights to the roof rack, but i'm sure there is a beefed up plate right?!

I really really want something like this!

My wife did show me something similar the other day on FB that as similar concept but utilized the trailer hitch rather than the roof.

Thanks,
Last we tested me and my son in one double hammock with combined weight of 340 lbs worked well and secure. The ENO hammock is rated 400 lbs and I can easily reach that safe limits without additional hardware but I personally wont attempt that weight since the plastic coop roof floors might give way. Over 250 lbs, I would add another rail bracket just to make sure.
Anyway, It still have all the space in the middle of the rack and not used at all. The weight of the hammock mounts for both is only 36 pounds. So still can manage more luggage on the roof when traveling.

Here is how it look from the front. Check out the available space in the middle of the rack for a coffee table. LOL

So got all the materials and have been using and tested the entire rig. Just want to show that the existing hardware can also accommodate a lightweight tarp without poles. You can reuse all the existing components and mounting to assemble the canopy.

Canopy homemade? Or existing kit attached to your rig? That's a nice tailgating setup!

Thats a very neat and great idea. Have you ever thought about sleeping in it with blankets, pillows etc.?
