Default roof rack question (D-2)

Just got back from a camping trip... max'd out the Disco. Considering a roof rack. I like the Safety Devices rack but I understand they're out of business/unavailable. Would like to hear what others are using. Looking for good performance for a reasonable price (... like everyone), Preferably a 'low' rack, as my SD doesn't have any roofs. Any suggestions? Anyone have one they are looking to sell? Thanks!

Mike

what do you consider a reasonable price? A used full rack will cost @ $900-1000.

www.roverracks.com has an "SD Style" all aluminum rack that starts at $999. It weighs 20-22lbs. The steel version weighs about 70lbs. and starts at $899.

Rover racks makes a SD knock off that is very close in styling and looks to the original. I would bet unless one looked really close they couldn't tell the 2 apart. SD is making racks again overseas and you're looking at over $2000 to get one here in the states.

here is a comparison. the 1st pic is an SD Rack. notice the anchoring brackets and the B and C pillars follow the legs of the rack.

the legs of the roverracks version (second pic) doesn't follow the pillars and the bracketing is different...

I love the floor in the SD rack! Does anybody know where to get one?

I have 2 SD racks, one of them I am willing to part with. It is a high rack for a DII, located in SoCal. It is in great shape and taking up half my garage floor. I took it of my DD to touch up some small scratches so it won't start rusting. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Search for chicken coup flooring.

Funny how much those little design touches like following the pillar angles adds to the rack.

That doesn't look like chicken coup? I am trying to read the letters: RHINOPROCOM?? Did some googling, but couldn't find anything. It looks like a nice flooring could indeed be rhinolined something...
