I guess I will stick with the Rotella, I dont see a need to go synthetic being that I change the oil every 5k.

Rotella w40 with a k&n 3001 filter changed every 3,500 miles, religiously! I think I have a pic somewhere but my rockers and internals look almost new after 82k miles. Been using rotella for about 40 k. Just wanted to chime in.

If you change your oil every 3,500 miles than there is no need for a K&N oil filter. A Napa gold oil filter is sufficient but I guess better never hurts.

Rotella 15w-40 and an stp 3569 filter- just a tad smaller than the M1-301 but bigger than stock.

Peace of mind is worth way more than five bucks per oil change. And I like the anti-drain back properties of the k&n.

Making the shift this afternoon from Mobile1 10w30 with Mobile1 301 filter, to the Rotella T6 5w 40 with a K&N 3001 filter. ( no Mobile 1 filter available, so figured I would give the K&N a try).hope my truck appreciates the new oil and filter.
Since owning the Discovery I have never minded paying a little extra for oil and filter because I am doing the labor part myself.... Rationalizing it...
