Default rough start after water immersion?

ok so yesterday i drove my rover thru some water obstacles - nothing over the hood but up to the lights a few times.
the next morning it was hard to start. as in it took two tries and i had to pump the gas a few times to get it to start.
occasionally thruoghout the day it did the same thing. othertimes it does not do it.

im thinking fuel pump/filter but it only happened after a water immersion.
so i hereby turn this over to the bran trust.
thanks

aren't you only supposed to "pump the gas" in a carborated car? i thought it just caused EFI vehicles to flood...

but about the water, i would let it dry out for a bit and then try it again... perhaps the alternator got wet and it's having trouble getting power to the starter

As far as I know the injectors wont provide extra fuel until the engine starts. I could be wrong though.

I agree with letting it dry out. Go on a nice long drive and get the engine and trans nice and hot and stay out of the water for a couple of weeks.

Spike you are right.
First thing pilsner may want to do is learn how to do water crossings. Playing to hard or showing off in the water can cost you an engine.
Have you even checked to see if you got water in your air filter??????????????????
D2's will take lots of water without a problem. Do you know where the air intake is on a D2, l/f wheel well.

im up to date on how to do water crossings. owned and driven 4 x 4s for a decade now and the additional military vehicle training stuff. so no issue there (as far as i know...) anyway, it has been raining here for a couple of weeks now so it hasnt gotten much chance to dry out yet. airfilter is dry and intact. what else? hmmm.... arent our alternators and distributors sealed?
thanks
guys and gals
as for the pump the gas things its after it starts that it wants to die for a few seconds. thats when i hafta give it fuel for a few seconds than it settles down and idles and runs just fine.
weird i know...

As far as D2's go, I power scrub my entire engine at least once a month and have for 6 years. D2's normally have no water issues.
Have you tried cleaning out your t/body and the idle control unit??

Yeah I'm starting to agree with Mike on this one, I dont think it is a water issue, I think it is something else. What I dont know, but a water logged alternator will have no affect, and your truck doesnt have a distribitor.
Have you checked for water in your diffs yet?

Buy a spray can of carb cleaner, follow the tube from the airbox to the engine, where it connects to the engine is where the t-body is, remove the hose from the engine, spray the t-body inside and out with the carb cleaner.
Take your hand and open the throttle by moving the throttle cable and spray all around inside, everywhere. Use the whole can if you need to.
If you park with the left front wheel on a curb or on a 2x4 then the cleaner will run inside the intake not onto the engine.
Put it all back together, start it, it will start hard. Then drive it for a few miles to burn off all the cleaner.
