Default Rover #2

Hey Guys,

Last year I totaled my 03 and I am (finally) in the market for a new 04. I found one relatively local (NE Philly)and had some questions. i checked it out yesterday, looked in pretty good shape 93K SE7 but when i popped the hood there was no SAI? I could see that some work had been done on the engine, and it looked like it had been removed (Valve cover gaskets looked like they had been done). Is it an issue if there is no SAI? I liked the truck and everything else worked as expected, just didn't know if this was a warning flag for some other issues.

As always, any help is appreciated.

It has a different engine, a 4.0 non SAI.
There is a serial number on the block, write it down, have the dealer check it for the year.
It could be they put non SAI heads on it.
Either way, it'll throw a CEL unless they had that turned off or used a 4.0 non-SAI ECU.

I thought SAI was only California Emisisions?
PA probably does not need or care about CA emissions.

PA is putting so much carbon dioxide in the air from fracking and burning off natural gas as waste, PA should not care about SAI or even emissions testing cars.

I thought all 03 and 04 had 4.6 motors
