Rubber Patch ?

Chk to make sure the weld isn't cracked there from the door detent / door check thing... the metal will fatigue and crack. I thought this was a purely cosmetic plastic cover and not really for water.
I couldn't find this on the parts diagrams btw. It might be part #19 (insert) or #20 on this diagram though (I'd bet 19) but googling that part number comes up with absolutely nothing anywhere online - https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic...nd/land-rover/

I wouldn't go nuts trying to find that little rubber patch. Not much to it. I made my own bigger and better out of a rubber material i had around. You could easily duplicate that in vinyl or other waterproof material. I added a tail on mine to send water away from the rubber wire grommet below.
Guessing here but it was likely a running change they added to solve a water leak after complaints started to pile up. Maybe never officially made it to the parts list as a dealer install.

Purple stuff is grease. I used a sealant called Lexel which is nothing special. Looks to be working. I have had great luck with e6000 which is more of a glue and sticks to about anything.
