Exclamation S and M Mode turn off by it self while driving

Hello all,

I need a help with my D2 2004 automatic transmission switch when selecting S and M Mode.

while driving when i select S mode on the Gear and M in Low Gear .. it works fine for a while then it turn it self off ..

i don't know if the problem related to the Electronic automatic transmission ECU or the Engine control module ECM or maybe something else that i can't relate to ..

i would appreciate any help from anyone who had the same problem and managed to fix it .

thank you

Check the shifter bezel plastic housing for cracks. If the housing is cracked/broken it can cause the button to be enabled/disabled while driving.

Just to keep following the same problem.
After covid 19 lockdown my battery died for a week or so, jump started it but it was dead.

replaced it with a new one
12v
cold cranking amps 730
cranking amps 860
amp hours @20 hr rate 90

i also checked the connector for the s mode and it cleaned it

the problem is still there. When I press S mode while in low rage to get M mode it keeps working for 60 seconds and it turn it self off by it self
I need to shift manually

anyone might know what is going on ?

I never did find out why mine would turn off but if you get a code reader to read any transmission codes you might have a few. Maybe it just needs to be cleared

@Jankot Can you clarify one thing:

Is it only the M mode that turns off ?
Or both M and S

If it is only the M mode then it could be the Hi/Low indicator switch.

It is easy to replace as you have an 04, and they are available from Bearmach. The switch is on the front of the transfer case.
