Default Safari Roof Rack

hey I am looking to add a safari (or other basket type) rack to my 2000 Disco II. I obviously would prefer that you can still open the sunroofs with it on. Thanks for any help!!

New or used, what is your budget?

Don't care if it is new or used, would like to keep it under $600. Gas isn't cheap anywhere!! Don't mind the noise and will be using to hold camping gear, so I can put the firewood inside.

I have a yakima load warrior with ext. mounted on thule super high foot gutter clamps. I got all of it (basket was used) a couple of years ago for under 500. I prefer the SD racks but mine is easy to take on and off and serves my purposes nicely.

Do a search for Rover Racks. That's where I got mine. Full basket. Compatable with sun roofs. Removable aft section to facilitate installation of roof top tent. 4 light brackets on front, limb lifter tabls and light tab on rear.

I paid something like $950 w/ shipping from Florida to Seattle.

I originally wanted a Hamilton rack from British Atlantic. But they are from South Africa and back order was lengthy (over a year!).

i have the exact same set up.

like you said easy on and off and will carry a bunch of stuff. what people dont think about with those safari racks is that you will not be able to part the rig inside most garages with that huge hunk of metal up on the roof.

Researching to add a basket to my load bars and thought I would pass on this information. Baskets to mount on either Yakima 66” cross bars using Yakima A1 Hi-Rise Towers or Thule 65” load bars using Thule 387 High Gutter Feet setup on D1 or D2. The baskets are also designed to mount on most factory roof rack cross bars. Baskets listed include mounting hardware.

$225 Yakima Load Warrior 44”L x 39”W x 6.5” H (Faring Inc.) Addl 18” Ext. $108

$314 Yakima Mega Load Warrior 52”L x 48”W x 6.5”H (Fairing Inc.) Addl 22" Ext $113

$342 Thule MOAB "Mother Of All Baskets" 44”L x 39”W x 6.5”H (Fairing Inc.) Addl 18” Ext $117

$160 Rola Vortex 5904 48”L x 37.5”W x 4.5 H (Fairing inc.) Addl 19” Ext $57

$110 Black Widow 42”L x 39”W x 4”H (Fairing $40) Addl 20” Ext $50

Most of these have Free S/H available, except the Black Widow I believe.
