Default SAI valve replacment

2000 DII 132K has a right side SAI valve failure (according to indy who pulled code). Every morning I start the truck, the SAI runs (maybe a bit longer than before failure) and screams pretty loudly (not bearing, but sounds like blocked airflow). Question is this - I can live with this, know I'm doing the right Cat a dis-service and not helping the environmnt any, but is this something I can just live with on an old truck until more $? If it's good for one, can I temporarily d/c the SAI (fuse/relay?) so I don't have to scare the birds? Also, anyone know where to get a reasonably cheap one and is this a moderate DIY task as it appears?
Thanks all

No, not if you don't want to throw your ECU into a fit.
Exactly what was the 4 digit fault code number, how mechanical are you?

Thanks Mike. No D/C then. Didn't get the code, just the interpretation - can I get to Autozone for this kind of code? As far as experience, on this vehicle not much engine work, but I've done waterpumps, alternators, radiators, wiper motors, engine and tranny filter changes on GM's. My first (and last) DIY on the truck was cleaning the throttle plate with a "little" starter fluid b/c it was sticking and ruining the gasket on the t.b. heater! Dumb and probably would have avoided if I was thinking more clearly and got pre-advice.
On this, I've done window regs, lock actuators, etc. Think I can handle it? The access is what's making me think not too bad, but I could be in for more than I bargained.

I think you handle fixing it. What "it" is and how to fix it is another story. I'm sure Mike know what "it" that needs fixed/replaced is.

PM me with your tele number, I have the manual and can answer some of your questions.
Yes, I think the auto parts store can read that code, get back to me with the 4 digit code.
