Default For Sale: Beautiful 2002 Discovery needs motor

http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/...584077/#584077

Check out this link. This is my Rover...but this posting was posted by my brother.

Duane Dier of Pasedena, CA sold me this car. It truly looked immaculate. Ran solid and looked brand new.

Unfortunately, I bought it AS IS. And 25 miles from the lot the check engine light came on. He gave us the run around for 3 months saying he was getting his guy to look at it and he insisted he didn't know anything of the issue. 25 miles after I bought it!!

Last weekend the engine blew due the to problem that it was experiencing when I drove it home.

I am eating the cost of the car cuz I bought it in cash. Duane Dier told me it wasn't his responsibility and refused to help out. He washed his hands of this car and laugh all the way to the bank with my money.

Its on the chopping block for anyone who wants to put an engine in it.

Its a nice ride...too bad too...i really like it.

What happened to the engine?
I take it that it wont run at all?
It would make a nice coffee table.

Without a motor the thing is worth more in parts than as a fixer. I'd say it might be worth $1000 the way it sits. A new motor, or used with install is going to run $3000 to $4000. If it were running in tip top shape, you could pick one up all day long in the $4500 to $5500 range. Best of luck. There is a 2004 rollover with 56k miles on it at one of the wrecking yards in Chula Vista, on Energy Way as I recall. Several other D2s as well, some with engines. Phil

I am NOT expecting to get $4500 for it...quite honestly...I didn't even notice my brother had put that price in the posting.

If its worth more parting it out...then part it out. I know 4 parts off that car that are worth $1500 easy...just off the top of my head. I just don't want to do it...I don't have time for that kind of toil.

Besides...in LA this car goes for $9k...NOT $5k... My mechanic (where it sits) told me to list if for $4k...but I'd happily take $2k...

LJDISCOVERY - you mentioned a couple rollovers in Chula Vista...what are those engines going for?

Besides towing, disassembling hours....installation hours...tuning hours...that motor will almost cost as much as a new one...NO?

FYI...I live in the middle of Hollywood which means I'm short on space to attempt this stuff myself. I gotta outsource which is expensive....
