Default Same trans issue different trans

I just replaced the replacement transmission that I just installed in my 00. So this is my 3rd trans and second transfer case and after each one the vehicle still will not catch the gears and move. I went through the transfer case and the trans that is in it now came out of a 04 and was working perfectly. The previous trans was out of an 01 and was told it was in working order by someone I trust. I filled the fluid up correctly, replaced the filter correctly, correct fluid and installed it correctly. What would the next thing to check be? I heard the last trans spin when I put it into gear this one I don’t hear it. I do not have the front driveshaft on, rear is installed. Thank you

Well, if the diff is not locked, you're not going anywhere without a front shaft. Did you have the front shaft in for any of these transmission swaps?

Yes sir, every combination of on and off front and back. I think the transfer case is stuck in neutral but I had it apart inspecting things it all looked normal. But what do I know. Neither output is moving at all.

If you’ve seen no change after each trans/TC swap, there must be something else going on. Do you know that the torque converter is good? And that it’s bolted to the flex plate?

I swapped torque converters this time and installed it per Rave. It is bolted to the flywheel. It has to be an issue in the T Case right?

When moving the hi-lo lever, does it feel positive, like it is going into gear?

No sir, neither does the diff lock. The t case is from an 04 as is the the cabling. It didn’t move under its own power when I got it and I have tried 3 trans and 2 T/Cases and still won’t move. It has to be something electrical that I can’t see or don’t know about.

The shifting of the transfer case and the transmission are both mechanical. The transfer case doesn't really have a neutral; it's either locked or unlocked so in either position at least one of the output shafts will rotate if it is getting power from the transmission.

@RBS The other possibility is you are stuck between high and low (transfer case). You need to take a step back:
  • drop both drive shafts
  • put the transfer case in CDL lock
  • put the transmission in gear
  • Both output shafts on the transfer case should be turning
If not make sure the transfer case has engaged high range and try again.

Next up do you get any dash lights at all ? It is in the realm of possibility the transmission TCU has died, but I believe the DIsco will still move in limp mode with a dead TCU however it may not, hopefully some one else can chime in

Thanks Richard, I will try anything now. Speaking of the dash lights, I am not positive I have all the correct electrical parts where they need to and are working. The T/C is from an 04 and I have the wiring harness for the 04 installed as well. I am yet to get any movement not even the sound of gears catching, if any of the switches like the two beside each other or the other two are bad will that keep the vehicle from moving?
