Question Saving money on parts

Hi all, I just bought a 2002 Land Rover Discovery II with 123,000 miles on it. It was maintained and many parts replaced, but its gonna need a lot of parts as time goes on as far as I can tell. So far I'm sure it will need:

-- 4 O2 sensors
-- XYZ Switch
-- Driver's side door locking parts (not sure what, but there are definite problems here)
-- Hydraulic Control Assembly
-- Three Amigos fix (possible shuttle valve or ABS sensor, etc.)
-- Plus any future parts, since parts are so pricey.

I'm wondering which parts can be overhauled and re-installed, which parts should/should not be scavenged from a junk yard, and which just absolutely have to be purchased new. I live in a small town, and the nearest junk car I've found is an hour away, so I'm even thinking of going up and scoring as much stuff as I can (within reason). What kinds of things should I look for that aren't broken yet? Also thinking about attempting to overhaul the XYZ switch rather than buying one.

look up "option B" for amigos, head gaskets if they haven't been done already; using ARP studs (suggested), 180* thermostat, basic green antifreeze after flushing dex-cool out, new grease-able joints-front driveshaft if it hasn't been replaced or serviced yet, look at stickies in D2 section; it's all there.
