Default Scangauge and 2001 Disco II

I just picked up a Scangauge II and it works great. Plugs into the ODBII port.
Shows mpg and trip details. Set it up with the size of the tank and it'll calculate distance left. Even calculates cost per mile to drive based on last fill up price.
Has lots of other neat features I'm still playing with. It will show and allow you to clear any trouble codes.
Another neat feature is that it displays current speed. However you can adjust it so if you have bigger tires and the speedo is off the scangauge will show your real speed.
I got it for this and the mpg feature. Scan codes are a bonus and it seems to do a lot more.

Thought some people might be interested.

Sure. The link is http://www.scangauge.com/
I picked it up locally here in Ottawa. I was going to order it online but found they had local retail location under the 'how to buy link'.
I had it out of the box and installed before I left the parking lot. The guy at Gifford ran me through a quick 30 second setup and I was done.
The hardest part is going to be deciding where to mount it permanently.
It was $169 cdn because I picked it up. The web page shows it at $169.95

You can change all the units between metric and imperial.
It displays engine load as a %, so at idle I'm seeing 5-10%, acceleration jumps to 50-60%. Can also show water temp, air intake temp etc.
Quite the toy. You can add gauges too if you know the codes for the sensor outputs. I see there is one for HP so I'll input the parameters and see if I get any readings.
So far the only problem I see with this is keeping my eyes on the road and not the gauges :-)

How long is the cable from the OBDII port to the ScanGuage? Is it long enough to mount it somewhere that is easy to see? I'd like to see a pic of how you have it setup. Thanks!!

The cable is about 6ft long. Right now I just have it sitting on the cup holder for now. Slides around a lot :-(
One place I have in mind is just above the radio on the small flat 'shelf'. It came with velcro and has two ports to connect the cable either the side or the back.
I was thinking about above the rearview mirror but will have to extend the cable. One end of the cable has the ODB connector, the other looks like a regular RJ45 (ethernet) jack. In theory a m/m adapter and straight through cable should extend it. However I've not tried it and would check the pin connections with and without the extension to make sure none of them got changed around using a meter before pluging it back into the ODB port.
I think it would look pretty neat above the mirror and hide the wire. Motivation to check the rear view more often. It's a safety device too! :-)

Nice location Switzer. I was thinking about that place too. Great minds think alike. MCRW, thanks for the info about the side and rear ports for the cable. I was wondering how much clearance it takes if it plugged into the back of the unit, but having it plug into the side should be cake. Thanks again!!
