Default Scanner

I am in the process of purchasing a scanner. I don't like to use other peoples things I would rather have my own that I can use any time I want. I am an FIY kinda guy and when it comes to other people touching my wifes Land Rover it's hands off unless I feel you really know your stuff. The two vehicles we drive are a 2003 Land Rover Discovery late serial number (KNOCK ON WOOD) oil pump issue you know and a 2005 Silverado Crew Cab.Any thoughts would appreciated.....

If you want the best for Land Rovers (IMO) then this is it:

It will not work on your other vehicle though. Otherwise any good scanner that reads live data will do. You can also buy an ABS amigo if you are having ABS code issues.

for about $20 you can a data cable and software for your laptop. Not sure if it works on a rover, but works on all other OBDII vehicles.

btw it just pulls OBDII trouble codes not ABS codes

I bought mine off of e-bay, it also reads live data, like engine temp, rpm, tells you if your O2's are working or not and it also reads transmission data is the car is so equipt.

I just bought this.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ss_T15_product

I wasn't able to find it anywhere else for under $230 (even in other Amazon listings) but here it was $89 with free shipping. It does the live data and everything else I think I will need. I hope. I haven't gotten it yet but will report back on it as soon as I get it because I am throwing codes p0171 and p0174. I am hoping this will help me understand if I have an o2 issue or a MAF. It it does, it saves me what I spent for it. I hope.
