Default OBD11 scanner question

I just got a catalog from Atlantic British and am wondering if anyone has bought any one of the three Equus code readers they offer, and if so, would they be a recommended purchase. Thanks in advance for your time.

Looking at the catalog, I would go for the D3100 because of it's extra features, I think for most people the D3110 is a little over their needs.

Mike,

The catalog I have lists models D3030, D3110, and D3130 - no D3100. Using your analogy, I interpret the recommendation to be the $219.95 D3110 enhanced model (retrieves generic and manufacturer specific codes) over the $249.95 D3130 professional model (real time data access and display). Would this be correct?

Thanks,
Dave

I think I have the D3110. An invaluable tool in my opinion. I've used it alot and with no problems. I would check ebay though I bought mine from a warehouse wholesale brand new and it was about $100 cheaper.

I just check my most recent catalog and it shows the D3100 @ $179.95 as the mid grade unit.

Thanks Mike. I guess the 3110 is some sort of upgrade over the 3100 but I have nothing to make the comparison. The one I got today was one of their 24 page sale flyers with free shipping on orders of >$350. I'll be checking eBay anyway just to see what's out there. What I think I need is something that gives me the LR manufacturers code at a minimum so I can at least quote specific problems when encountered. It's the least I can do when begging for help

Thanks again,

Dave

I have a Pep Boys model 9135( I think thats the number) it has read everything my
Disco has done but more impressive is that it has read my diesel VW , and cost about $90.
You dont need a model that does C.A.N. systems, so that can save some money.

The C.A.N. system was first used in 2004 by Ford and some cars and trucks still dont
use it( Control Area Network) to this day.

I thought about getting one with the C.A.N system for cars to come, but by that
time there will be much better OBD readers.
