Default Screaming engine bay noise.

Hey guys what going on, I have this problem for about the last month where the car makes a very loud high pitched noise from the engine bay and sometimes gos on and off randomly, when driving but on command it goes off while accelerating and immediately screams again when you take your foot off the accelerater. Any idea what this is? Pulleys maybe.

Idler pulleys, Alternator bearing, AC Clutch could be dragging, or the water pump bearing is on it's way out.

Idler pulleys are cheap and really suck when they give out....also check power steering fluid. It could also be the harmonic balancer though they are pretty robust but that pulley is what provides movement to the whole serpentine belt and all the accessories.

You might want to try removing the Serpentine belt and starting it up for a few secs. If those noises are gone then you know it's one of your pullies or alternator bearing.
Mine did the same and the new pully made the engine sound much better....also got better mileage and more horsepower. OK the last part was a lie.

If it fails completely while you are driving you will overheat your engine, so stop driving it until you diagnose and repair. You are very lucky you made it driving a month with such a noise.

Also check the secondary air pump. If the hose pops off, it makes a very loud noise.
