Screwdrivers?
Hi All,
I've been working on my son's disco and had been removing parts from a parts disco and was noticing that a lot of the screws had damage where the screwdriver goes. I've noticed that my screwdrivers want to "cam out" and/or damage the philips slots more easily than what I've previously experienced (German cars and Toyota Land Cruisers). Are there "special" screwdriver bits used on the rover? I'm using what I consider normal Craftsman hand tools (Im in the US), and I wonder if there is a better tool choice.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

there are 2 types of cross head screw driver points 'Pos drive' and 'Philips', they are not exacly the same and tend to damage the screw heads if used on the wrong screw, you nee to trail fit the screww driver to the screw before applying an pressure to make sure it the correct one, most screwdiver set that have the small bit that fits in a handle have both types

The majority (if not all?) "Phillips" screws on the Disco are actually Pozidrive. Except for interior trim screws. Get a pozi 1-4. A pozi 4 is a little trickier to find, but is needed for the brake rotor hold down screw and the screw that secures the parking brake drum. I actually find is helpful to just get a bit holding screw driver and then get pozi bits.

Thank you for the links - I just ordered a couple of bit drivers and two sets of the Wiha bits (one for me and one for my son).
I'll keep looking for the PZ4, since the price is quite high on Amazon. Maybe one of my local suppliers carries them?
I was afraid this was a stupid question, but I'm glad I asked.
Thank you!!!
What other folks said - Poz drive. Look into Wera Wiha brands. Good quality.
Also, respect torque settings. When dealing with interior plastic, stop screwing things in when you feel just a bit of resistance.
